Ankeny Centennial is eighth in Class 4A in the first rankings of the season from the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
The rankings for all four classes will be determined through the regular season by official rankings committees, a process utilized in IHSAA football, basketball, and dual team wrestling.
Each classification features a top 10 consensus-built list. The committees include former coaches, officials, and in-state program representation.
As started in 2024, the IHSAA will use these regular season rankings as a primary tool for postseason assignments, while maintaining school and geographic considerations. Rankings will be released weekly.
The Jaguars are off to a 5-2 start and are riding a four-game winning streak. They will play a CIML Conference game at No. 2 Dowling Catholic on Tuesday before playing a non-conference game on Thursday at Norwalk, the No. 5 team in Class 3A.
