
Using only a partial lineup, the Ankeny boys’ track team placed sixth among seven squads in the North Polk Relays on Tuesday. The Hawks scored 70 points.
Ballard (Huxley) won the meet with 136 points. North Polk finished second with 115.
Ankeny focused most of its attention on some of the individual events. The Hawks had three first-place finishes, two of them in the field events.
Ankeny swept the top two places in the discus. Andrew Haase won the event with a throw of 140 feet 9 inches, while teammate Ryan Tomlinson was second with a toss of 137-2.
Tomlinson captured the shot put with a throw of 50-3. Ankeny’s Nathan Lee was third in that event at 44-9.
Tyler Sickerson raced to a victory in the 200. He was clocked in 22.10 seconds.
Jackson Kaiser placed third in the 1,600. He posted a time of 4:48.80.
