If the Ankeny Centennial girls’ golf team was suffering from fatigue, the Jaguars didn’t show it.
Centennial easily won a triangular meet on Wednesday at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Waukee. The Jaguars shot a 167 to defeat Waukee (185) and Urbandale (210), who both entered the day winless against CIML Conference opponents.
“I’m very proud of the girls for battling today,” said Centennial coach John Petersen. “I think we are tired after (Tuesday’s) round at Linn-Mar. But we finished with our low nine-hole score for the season so far.”
Kate Geiselhart carded a 38 to lead Centennial, earning medalist honors for the second time in her last three meets. Gretta Secory of Waukee was the runner-up with a 40.
Lauren Wilford shot a 42 for the Jaguars. Danika Kraus fired a 43, Cate Trewet carded a 44, Ava Entrekin had a 49, and Kaylee Sprecher finished with a 50.
Centennial raised its record to 4-2 in the conference. Waukee is now 1-5, while Urbandale dropped to 0-6.
The Jaguars will travel to Marshalltown on Thursday to compete in the Linda Bloom Invitational at Elmwood Country Club.
