
The Ankeny Centennial boys’ track team won six events and easily captured the overall crown at the West Marshall Relays on Thursday at State Center. The Jaguars racked up 182.5 points.
Lynnville-Sully placed second among the nine squads with 125.5 points. West Marshall was third with 104.5.
Centennial’s JJ Morgan won the 100 in 11.37 seconds. Teammate Johnathan Gilbert took the shot put with a throw of 46 feet 6 inches.
Morgan also ran on the winning 4×100 relay. He teamed up with Tom Miller, Nic Ryan and Treyce Young to post a time of 45.39 seconds.
Young placed second in the long jump with a leap of 18-8, while Miller finished third with a jump of 18-2. Those two also ran on the winning 4×200 relay, teaming up with Ryne Adams and Heisman Dickinson to post a time of 1:36.98.
Adams also helped the Jaguars to a victory in the 4×400 relay. He combined with Luke Mitchell, Noah Cleghorn and Kyler Jones to post a time of 3:34.85.
Centennial’s other win came in the shuttle hurdle relay. The team of Gavin Matheny, Ryan, Devin Boyle and Mark Nelson was clocked in 1:02.89.
Nelson took second in both the 110 and 400 hurdles events. He posted times of 16.16 and 59.77.
Noah Ross placed second in the 200 in 22.96. Ian Smith was the runner-up in the 3,200 in 10:30.25.
Jones added a third-place finish in the 400. He turned in a time of 53.63.
The Jaguars will compete in the CIML Conference meet on Thursday at Ankeny Stadium.
