
The boys’ soccer postseason will look a little different this year.
Substate final winners will advance to the state quarterfinals, which will be played at host sites across the state. Quarterfinal matches are set for Monday, June 2 with matchups to be determined.
The 2025 IHSAA state soccer tournament presented by Iowa Farm Bureau will then continue at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines. The semifinals and finals are set to run from June 4-6.
The substate brackets for Class 4A were announced on Tuesday by the IHSAA. Seventh-ranked Ankeny (8-4-2) is the No. 1 seed in Substate 8, while No. 10 Ankeny Centennial (9-5) is the No. 2 seed in Substate 3.
The Hawks will host fourth-seeded Cedar Falls (6-4-2) in a substate semifinal on Tuesday, May 27. No. 9 Des Moines Lincoln (9-3-1) will host Ottumwa (8-4-3) in the other semifinal, with the two winners to meet in the substate final on Thursday, May 29.
The Jaguars will host third-seeded Marshalltown (9-4-1) in a substate semifinal on Tuesday, May 27. No. 6 Ames (12-3-1) will host Waukee (2-11-2) in the other semifinal, with the two winners to meet in the substate final on Thursday, May 29.
The Substate 3 final could be a rematch of a game on May 5, when the Jaguars posted a 4-2 win at Ames to hand the Little Cyclones one of their three losses. They won that game despite playing a man down most of the way.
