When the Ankeny Centennial baseball team opened the season on May 19 at Des Moines Roosevelt, the Jaguars got off to a good start before the non-conference doubleheader was postponed due to rain.
Centennial finished the job on Friday.
Play resumed in the top of the fourth inning with the Jaguars holding a 2-0 lead. They went on to post an 8-1 victory in the opener, then completed a sweep of the twinbill with a 12-1 win in five innings.
Ninth-ranked Centennial improved to 8-5 on the season. The Roughriders’ record dropped to 5-10.

Will Morris (4-0) got the win in the first game after throwing three scoreless innings last month, when he walked one and had four strikeouts. Reed Anderson and Brekken Miller completed a combined two-hitter.
Nolan Powell went 3-for-3 and scored a run for the Jaguars, who used a four-run seventh inning to break the game open. Trae Houser went 2-for-5 and had two RBIs, while Elijah Starr doubled and knocked in a run.
Centennial’s Isaac Bruhl went 2-for-3 in both games. He scored a run and drove in two more in the opener, then doubled and scored twice in the nightcap.
Anderson went 3-for-4 and had four RBIs in the second game. He finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.

Jackson Reed doubled and drove in three runs. Miller also had a double.
TJ Hood (1-1) earned the win, pitching three perfect innings with a trio of strikeouts. Jack Loutsch and Logan Wildebour finished the combined three-hitter.
The Jaguars will host a CIML Conference doubleheader against Dowling Catholic (3-5) on Monday.
