Ankeny seniors Benge, Gloviak named to Class 4A all-tournament team

Ankeny seniors Landon Benge and Dylan Gloviak were both named to the Class 4A all-tournament team after leading the Hawks to the semifinals for the first time since 2018.

Benge scored a pair of goals in Ankeny’s 3-1 win over second-ranked Des Moines Roosevelt in the quarterfinals on June 2 at Mediacom Stadium. He finished the season with 27 goals, which ranked third in Class 4A.

Gloviak was the leader of the Hawks’ defensive unit that held No. 1 Valley to just one goal in a semifinal loss on Thursday. The Tigers went on to beat two-time defending champion Johnston, 3-0, in Friday’s title game.

Valley placed four players on the team, led by all-tournament captain Pablo Mendez.
