The Class 5A regional softball pairings have been announced by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union.
Third-ranked Ankeny Centennial (22-8) is the top seed in Region 3 and will host Urbandale (7-18) or Des Moines North (0-10) in a regional semifinal on Saturday, July 12 at 7 p.m. No. 14 Cedar Rapids Kennedy (17-15) will host Waterloo West (12-18) in the other semifinal.
The highest remaining ranked team will host the regional final on Tuesday, July 15 at 7 p.m.
Ankeny (9-17) is the third seed in Region 6 and will play at No. 11 Ames (24-8) in a regional semifinal on Saturday, July 12 at 7 p.m. No. 6 Southeast Polk (19-9) will host Marshalltown (10-17) or Des Moines Lincoln (3-24) in the other semifinal.
The highest remaining ranked team will host the regional final on Tuesday, July 15 at 7 p.m.
The state tournament is slated for July 21-25 at Harlan Rogers Park in Fort Dodge.
