Former Ankeny softball star Abby Rusher has transferred to Bradley University following her freshman season at Creighton.
“So excited for this new chapter!” Rusher tweeted Tuesday on X in announcing her commitment to the Braves.
Rusher, a pitcher, helped the Bluejays to a 30-25 record, including a 15-9 mark in the Big East Conference. She appeared in 18 games and compiled a 1-2 record with one save and a 5.25 ERA.
Rusher earned her lone victory against Drake on March 11, when she allowed one earned run on five hits and had three strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings. She had an ERA of 2.53 before struggling down the stretch, when she allowed 16 earned runs over her last four outings.
Rusher was a four-year letterwinner at Ankeny, where she led the Hawkettes to a 22-22 record and a fourth-place finish in the Class 5A state tournament as a senior in 2024. She was named to the all-tournament team.
Rusher was a two-time first-team all-state selection at Ankeny.
