
The Ankeny Centennial wrestling team came away with a split on Thursday in a double dual meet at Oskaloosa.
The Jaguars posted a 47-24 victory over the host Indians, but they dropped a 50-26 decision to Dallas Center-Grimes. Coach Jay Groth’s team is now 2-8 on the season.
Centennial won nine of the 14 matches against Oskaloosa. Cameron Moeckly at 113 pounds, Will Sloan at 132 and Ethan Sodergren at 150 each had a fall for the Jaguars.
Cale Vandermark at 126 and Raymani James at 144 each recorded a technical fall. Brenden Harless won by a major decision at 106, while Dean Landis at 157 and Christian Luckow at 175 each won by a forfeit.
The best match of the meet came at 285, where Centennial’s Dirk Winkel outlasted Kyron Smith, 12-10, in overtime.

Moeckly, Vandermark and Sodergren each had pins against Dallas Center-Grimes. Harless won by a technical fall, while Brandon Bogseth posted a 12-7 decision over Connor Stolpe at 215.
The Jaguars will compete in the Jack Mendenhall Invitational on Saturday at Ames. They placed sixth at last year’s tournament.
