Koach Allstars complete their most successful season ever

May 16, 2019 by Dan Holm

Koach Allstars, a competitive cheerleading and tumbling gym located in Ankeny, wrapped up its most successful season to date as all three competitive cheer teams finished in the top 10 of Varsity’s D2 Summit Championships in Orlando, Fla., on May 11-12. Koach, which has been competing since the 2013-2014 cheer season, had never sent all teams to the finals and never had a top-10 finish until last weekend.

“Wrapping up our sixth season at Koach Allstars with three top-10 finishes at the D2 Summit is a true testament to the dedication and love that all our athletes have for cheerleading and each other,” said Program Director and Coach Tori Monroe. “To improve from 56th last year to three top-10 finishes is amazing. We are fortunate to have such great kids competing with great support from their parents for The Koach Way.”

Each team in the Koach program saw great success during the 2018-2019 competitive cheer season. The road to get to the D2 Summit Championship isn’t easy as approximately 10 percent of all gyms in the nation receive bids. Qualifying for Summit is a prestigious invitation based on performance at Summit qualifying events throughout the season.

Prior to the D2 Summit all three Koach teams were invited to take part in a promo shoot for Varsity University, which offers comprehensive educational programming to schools and athletic programs nationwide. This honor was only afforded to a total of 11 teams nationwide.

Major accomplishments by each Koach team include:

Revival (Level 1 Medium Junior Division)

• 2nd place finish at 2019 D2 Summit Championships

• Paid bid to the 2019 D2 Summit Championships (This team has received the paid bid the last 3 years)

• US Finals Grand Champion (Kansas City)

• National Championship Title Holder including Overall Event Grand Champions

Savvy (Level 2 Small Senior Division)

• 10th place finish at 2019 D2 Summit Championships (65 teams including wildcard)

• At-large bid to the 2019 D2 Summit Championships

• US Finals 2nd place (Kansas City)

• National Championship Title Holder and Overall Level Grand Champions

• Set the new gym-high score with a 98.8 during a competition this season

K4 (Level 4 Small Senior Coed Division)

• 4th place finish at 2019 D2 Summit Championships (45 teams including wildcard)

• At-large bid to the 2019 D2 Summit Championships

• US Finals 2nd place (Kansas City)

• National Championship Title Holder and Overall Level Grand Champions

“Koach Allstars is blessed and humbled to serve families in Ankeny, Des Moines and beyond. Coaching cheerleading and tumbling is our passion but it is our mission to create an atmosphere that allows youth athletes and their families to grow and develop into outstanding people,” said Koach owner Ashley Bailey. “We are excited to be kicking off Season 7 and we look forward to continuing to grow and max out the score sheet as we put Koach on the map of cheer gyms nationally.”

Season 7 for KOACH All Stars begins with tryouts for the 2019-2020 season this Saturday at KOACH All Stars in Ankeny. For more information on KOACH and to register an athlete for tryouts, please visit www.koachallstars.com.
