Junior Alee Edwards has helped the 10th-ranked Ankeny Centennial softball team to a 29-9 record. The Jaguars closed out the regular season on Tuesday by sweeping a doubleheader at Mason City.
Edwards has played in 14 games, starting five times. She is batting .300 with four RBIs and six runs scored.
Edwards had a two-run single in Centennial’s 13-3 victory in six innings in the nightcap of Tuesday’s twinbill.
“Alee has gone through a lot this season,” said Centennial coach Brett Delaney. “No matter what is going on she is there to play the game she loves with her teammates she cares about the most. She puts everything she has into every play. She puts everything she has into making those around her better. We are very fortunate to have her as part of our Centennial softball family.”
The Jaguars will host Ankeny in a Class 5A regional semifinal on Saturday.
