The Ankeny Centennial and Ankeny girls’ soccer teams have both earned No. 1 seeds in the Class 3A regional pairings that were announced Friday by the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union.
The third-ranked Jaguars (11-2) will host either Des Moines East (3-10) or Des Moines North (1-10) in a Region 3 semifinal on May 24 at 6 p.m. The Scarlets will play a non-conference game at Centennial on Friday, and the two teams could meet again later this month.
No. 14 Johnston (7-4) will host Urbandale (6-7) in the other regional semifinal. The highest remaining ranked team will host the regional final on May 26 at 6 p.m.
The fourth-ranked Hawkettes (12-1) will host Marshalltown (0-11) or Waterloo Schools (3-7) in a Region 4 semifinal on May 24 at 6 p.m. Ankeny has already posted a 10-0 win over the Bobcats.
No. 13 Cedar Falls (8-3) will host Cedar Rapids Prairie (3-5) in the other regional semifinal. The highest remaining ranked team will host the regional final on May 26 at 6 p.m.
