Substate pairings announced: Hawks, Jaguars to open postseason at home

The boys’ substate soccer pairings have been announced by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.

Second-ranked Ankeny (15-1) is the top seed in Class 3A Substate 1 and will host a semifinal game on Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Hawks will play the winner of a quarterfinal between Sioux City North (9-4) and Sioux City West (5-7).

No. 15 Ames (7-4) will host Sioux City East (10-3) or Fort Dodge (1-10) in the other substate semifinal. Ankeny will host the substate final on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m.

No. 6 Centennial (12-2) is the top seed in Substate 7 and will also host a semifinal game on Monday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. The Jaguars will play the winner of a quarterfinal between Southeast Polk (5-10) and Indianola (5-10).

No. 12 Des Moines Hoover (14-2) will host Waukee (5-8) or Mason City (1-13) in the other substate semifinal. Centennial will host the substate final on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m.
