Mariah Belzer of Ankeny Centennial has committed to play softball at Rogers State University, an NCAA Division II school in Claremore, Okla.
Belzer, who plays for the Jaguars Elite club team, announced her decision on Twitter last week.
“What I really liked about Rogers State was how nice the coaches and players were,” said Belzer. “They were all very welcoming. I loved the facility and how nice it was, and it’s a plus that they won the Div. II national championship last year!”
Belzer said she was sold on the school by the Rogers State coaches.
“They were very respectful and made the visit so much better!” she said. “The campus was also the perfect size for me, and I just knew this is where I wanted to go! They came to me at a camp and later asked for me to go on a visit and recruited me! I was their only 2023 offer so I knew they were very interested in me!
“I did consider also going to Nebraska-Kearney but I knew Rogers was where I was meant to go, and I’m super excited for my future there and hope to do big things there!” she added.
