The Ankeny Centennial wrestling team turned in a dominating performance on Tuesday at the Council Bluffs Lewis Central quadrangular.
The Jaguars easily defeated all three of their opponents, racking up 23 pins while raising their record to 5-0. They posted a 66-16 win over Clarinda, a 66-18 victory over Denison-Schleswig, and a 65-11 triumph over Lewis Central.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect,” said Centennial coach Jay Groth. “We’re getting closer to getting everybody where they are supposed to be, but I really didn’t know what would happen tonight. I knew Lewis Central was a little bit down. They were missing a few guys last weekend at the (Dallas Center-Grimes) Invite.”
Cale Vandermark at 106 pounds, Tyler Brennan at 132, Cael Wiener at 138 and 145, and Logan Song at 170 each had three falls on the night. Ryan Muller at 126, Lucas Bruhl at 152 and Ari Ehlts at 160 also went 3-0 and had a pair of pins.
“We basically went 3-0 at every weight from 106 to 170,” Groth said. “We were just hoping for a good performance, and we got it. We got a lot of pins and really got after it. I can’t complain about our performance.”
The Jaguars will host the Centennial Duals on Saturday.
