The Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial girls’ soccer teams have both received No. 1 seeds for the upcoming Class 3A regional tournaments from the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union.
Fourth-ranked Ankeny (8-3-1) is the top seed in Region 4 and will host a semifinal game against Ames (8-7) or Fort Dodge (0-8) on Tuesday, May 23 at 7 p.m. No. 12 Urbandale (8-6) will host Sioux City East (5-4) in the other semifinal game.
No. 8 Centennial (7-5-1), the defending state champion, is the top seed in Region 8 and will host a semifinal game against Iowa City West (5-8) or Des Moines Lincoln (4-10) on May 23 at 7 p.m. No. 9 Bettendorf (10-2) will host Cedar Rapids Prairie (9-2) in the other semifinal game.
The regional finals will be played on Thursday, May 25 at 7 p.m., with the highest remaining ranked team hosting the contest.
