Ankeny Centennial boys’ soccer standouts Ty Duax and Andrew Heckenlaible have been named to the CIML Conference first team by a vote of the league’s coaches. The duo led the Jaguars to a 10-6 record and a trip to the Class 4A semifinals.
Heckenlaible, a junior forward, racked up a team-high 12 goals and 31 points. He scored a goal in all four of his team’s postseason games, increasing his career total to 43 goals.
Duax, a junior midfielder, scored eight goals and had a team-high eight assists. Along with Heckenlaible, he was a two-time first-team pick in the CIML Iowa Conference in 2021-22 before the Jaguars joined the new nine-team league this season.
Two other Centennial stars, senior forward Rashidi Ishibwami and senior defender Kwaku Kwarteng, were selected to the CIML Conference second team. They were joined on the squad by sophomore forward Landon Benge of Ankeny, who had a team-high 10 goals and seven assists while leading the Hawks to a 4-10 record.
Two other Ankeny players, junior forward Avry Olson and junior defender Tyler Woods, were named to the CIML Conference third team. They were joined on the squad by junior defender Beau Brazeau of Centennial.
Several other players from both schools received all-conference honorable mention. They are junior goalkeeper Andrew Nelson, senior defender Haris Smajlovic, senior midfielder Lucas Cowman, senior forward Parker Lundberg, sophomore defender Austin Lundberg and freshman midfielder Ben Ridlen of Centennial; and freshman goalkeeper Jackson Dockendorff, sophomore defender Dylan Gloviak, freshman defender Keaton Kobow, junior defender Jackson Roberts, junior midfielder Gannon Ripley, freshman midfielder Cal Wahlberg, senior midfielders Connor Slack and Corbin Webber, sophomore midfielder Jack Croske, and sophomore forward Andrew Loder of Ankeny.
