CIML Conference basketball standings

While the Johnston girls’ basketball team has taken control of the CIML Conference race, Waukee will have a chance to do likewise in the boys’ race later this week.

The seventh-ranked Warriors will host No. 2 Valley, the defending Class 4A state champion, on Friday. A win would give Waukee at least a two-game lead heading into the second half of the season.

On the girls’ side, No. 1 Johnston already owns a two-game lead–thanks to the Dragons’ 72-54 victory at No. 4 Waukee on Dec. 21. All five starters scored in double figures for Johnston, which led by just one point before outscoring the Warriors, 27-10, in the fourth quarter.
