The Ankeny girls’ bowling team earned its second victory of the season on Thursday.
The Hawkettes defeated host Dowling Catholic by a score of 2,088 to 1,805 at Game Day Lanes. They improved to 1-5 in the CIML Conference and 2-9 overall.
It was the second-highest score of the season for the Ankeny girls’ squad. The Hawkettes’ season-high total of 2,108 also came at Game Day Lanes in a narrow loss to Johnston on Dec. 21.
Dowling won the boys’ meet by a score of 2,912 to 2,637. Still, it was a season-high score for the Hawks, whose records dropped to 0-6 and 0-11.
The Ankeny boys’ team has surpassed a total of 2,600 in three of its last six meets. The Hawks’ previous high of 2,618 came on Jan. 26 against Greene County at Spare Time Lanes & Lounge.
The Ankeny squads will face Clarke in a non-conference meet on Monday at Osceola before competing in the conference meet on Wednesday at Great Escape.
