The leading scorer on the Ankeny Centennial boys’ basketball team in the 2021-22 season has passed away at the age of 19.

Chris Louis, who averaged 12.1 points per game while helping the Jaguars to a 12-10 record as a senior, died unexpectedly last week.

Here is Louis’ obituary:

Christian Louis, a vibrant soul, bid farewell to this world on May 3, 2024 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was born on June 28, 2004, in the bustling city of Houston, Texas, bringing joy and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Christian’s journey was one defined by passion and determination. From his early days at Centennial High School in Ankeny, Iowa, where he graduated with pride in 2022, to his time at Iowa Western Community College chasing his basketball dreams, Christian’s dedication knew no bounds. His love for basketball was palpable, and his skills on the court were nothing short of extraordinary.

Beyond his achievements on the basketball court, Christian will be remembered for his infectious personality. A notorious prankster with a perpetual smile adorning his face, he had a knack for lightening up any room he entered. His love for ruffling feathers and indulging in XBox gaming sessions showcased his lively spirit and boundless energy.

Outside of his academic and athletic pursuits, Christian found solace in the simple joys of life. An early riser who embraced each day with zeal, he reveled in watching sports on TV and nurturing his dream of gracing the NBA courts one day—a dream that illuminated his path with hope and ambition.

Christian’s passing leaves behind a legacy cherished by many. In this time of mourning are his devoted parents Tandra Bell and Frederick Louis; siblings Kaleb Louis, Chamira Young, Chania Bell, Dondre Louis, Chad Louis, and Austin Summers; grandmothers Peggy Bell and Annis Woods; niece Aire Bell; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who held a special place in his heart.

As we grieve the loss of an extraordinary individual taken too soon from us, let us find solace in the memories we shared with Christian Louis—an indomitable spirit whose presence will forever linger in our hearts.

May you rest in peace as you embark on your next journey beyond the stars.

Funeral services are pending.
