Solid rounds from Cate Trewet and Kaylee Sprecher helped the Ankeny Centennial girls’ golf team to a split against two opponents in a CIML Conference triangular meet on Wednesday at Jester Park.
Johnston shot a 177 on its home course to edge Centennial by three strokes. The Jaguars easily defeated Dowling Catholic, 180-211.
“We made a lot of improvements since Monday (at our home invite),” said Centennial coach John Petersen. “The weather was much better, but I felt like the girls’ focus was much better today.”
Johnston’s Cate Taylor carded a 5-over-par 41 to earn medalist honors. Trewet was the runner-up with a 42.
Sprecher fired a 43 for the Jaguars. Lauren Wilford had a 47, Ava Entrekin carded a 48, Kate Geiselhart had a 49, and Danika Kraus added a 52.
Centennial will play in the Toni Dickey Invitational on Thursday at Otter Creek Golf Course.
