The Ankeny volleyball team will have the luxury of playing at home during the postseason.
Ankeny Centennial, meanwhile, may have to hit the road in order to earn another trip to the Class 5A state tournament.
The Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union announced its postseason pairings on Tuesday. Fourth-ranked Ankeny is the No. 1 seed in Class 5A Region 5, while No. 9 Centennial is seeded second in Region 1.
The Hawkettes (28-5) will host Urbandale (15-12) or Des Moines North (1-16) in a regional semifinal on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. No. 12 Cedar Rapids Kennedy (14-11) will host Ames (9-21) in the other regional semifinal.
With a victory, Ankeny would host the regional final on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
The defending state champion Jaguars (10-12) will host Fort Dodge (3-25) in a regional semifinal on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. No. 8 Council Bluffs Lincoln (30-3) will host Sioux City East (18-8) or Sioux City North (12-18) in the other regional semifinal.
With a win, Council Bluffs Lincoln would host the regional final on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
