Top-ranked Ankeny Centennial and crosstown rival Ankeny have both received No. 1 seeds from the Iowa High School Athletic Association, which announced its postseason basketball pairings for Class 4A on Friday.
The Jaguars (18-1) earned a first-round bye in Substate 6. They will host Des Moines Roosevelt (6-11) or Southeast Polk (11-7) in a substate semifinal on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
Johnston (11-7) is the No. 2 seed in Substate 6. The Dragons will host Des Moines East (0-18) or ninth-ranked Indianola (15-3) in a substate semifinal on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
The substate final will be played on March 3 at 7 p.m. at Southeast Polk. If the Rams reach the substate final, the game will be played at Centennial.
Ankeny (14-4), meanwhile, has earned a first-round bye in Substate 1. The Hawks will host Fort Dodge (2-17) or Sioux City West (9-10) in a substate semifinal on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
Sioux City East (14-4) is the No. 2 seed in Substate 1. The Black Raiders will host Sioux City North (1-19) or Ames (9-10) in a substate semifinal on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
The substate final will be played on March 3 at 7 p.m. at Fort Dodge. However, if the Dodgers reach the substate final, or if both Ankeny and Ames advance to the final, then the site will be moved.
