The Ankeny Centennial volleyball team got a much-needed victory on Tuesday at Ames.

The fifth-ranked Jaguars posted a 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 triumph to snap out of a recent funk. They improved to 3-1 in the CIML Iowa Conference and 12-7 overall, while Ames’ records dropped to 0-3 and 4-11.

Centennial was coming off a difficult week that began with a four-set loss to No. 2 Ankeny on its home court. The Jaguars then went 1-2 at the Valley quadrangular on Thursday before going 1-3 at the Des Moines Christian Invitational on Saturday.

Monica Mirembe pounded six kills to lead Centennial’s balanced attack. The Jaguars–who hit .328 as a team–got four kills apiece from Olivia Anderson, Peyton Mitchell and Delainey Winkel.

Morgan DenBeste racked up 11 assists in the win. Reagan Angus added 10.

Anderson and Mirembe each had two blocks on defense. Ella Becker contributed 11 digs.

Anderson and Mitchell each had three of Centennial’s 10 aces. Angus added two aces and completed all 16 of her serves.
