It was another dominating performance by the Ankeny Centennial girls’ tennis team.
The fourth-ranked Jaguars defeated No. 7 Ames, 11-0, on Thursday at the Prairie Ridge courts. They improved to 3-0 in the CIML Iowa Conference and 5-1 overall, while the Little Cyclones’ records dropped to 2-1 and 5-3.
“I was very pleased how we competed and how we adjusted to the conditions,” said Centennial coach Armando Espinosa. “The wind was a factor which usually is a neutralizer, but the girls did a great job.”
The win moved Centennial closer to the league’s dual-meet title. Mason City and Fort Dodge are the only teams that the Jaguars have yet to play–and those two squads are a combined 4-8 on the season.
The Jaguars will host a non-conference meet against Boone on Monday before traveling to Mason City on Tuesday.
