The Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial boys’ soccer teams have both earned No. 2 seeds in their respective substate brackets. The postseason pairings were announced on Thursday by the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
Seventh-ranked Ankeny Centennial (12-4) will host third-seeded Southeast Polk (6-7) or sixth-seeded Fort Dodge (1-13) in a Class 3A Substate 2 semifinal on Monday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m. The Jaguars already own wins over Southeast Polk, 3-0, and Fort Dodge, 10-0.
The winner would likely play No. 1 Waukee (17-0) in the substate final on Wednesday, May 26 at Waukee at 6:30 p.m. Centennial has not played the Warriors this season.
No. 11 Ankeny (10-5), meanwhile, will host third-seeded Ames (5-8) or sixth-seeded Indianola (2-12) in a Class 3A Substate 8 semifinal on May 24 at 6:30 p.m. The Hawks defeated Ames, 3-2, in a shootout on Friday.
The winner would likely play No. 4 Valley (13-4) in the substate final on May 26 at Valley at 6:30 p.m. The Hawks won at Valley, 3-2, in a shootout on April 17.
