Ankeny Community Schools has hired a replacement for outgoing Ankeny Centennial Activities Director Scott Garvis.
Robert Scott has been hired to take over the position, pending School Board approval on Monday.
According to a press release from Ankeny Schools, Scott brings 30 years of experience as an educator and administrator. Since 2013, he has served the Davenport School District as the Associate Superintendent-Chief Academic Officer in addition to serving as the District Athletic Director and managing the music program.
Scott’s career began as a physical education teacher and boys’ basketball head coach in Illinois before moving to Davenport Schools in 2004 and holding the positions of middle school teacher, Central High School Associate Principal and Principal.
“He’ll be a great addition to our community,” said Dr. Jill Urich, Ankeny Centennial High School Principal. “Given his experience, leadership skills and inclusive students-first mindset, excellence in activities will continue at Ankeny Centennial High School.”
