Ankeny Centennial boys’ soccer standouts Joe Krueger and Evan Larson have received all-state honors from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association along with the Ankeny duo of Kyle Pederson and Conor Wahlberg.
Krueger, a senior defender, was named to the Class 3A first team. He scored four goals this season and was the leader of a defensive unit that set a school record with 12 shutouts.
Larson, a junior defender, was selected to the Class 3A second team. He was also a key part of the Jaguars’ stingy defensive unit.
Centennial won the CIML Iowa Conference title and advanced to the state tournament before losing to Valley in a shootout in the Class 3A quarterfinals. The Jaguars finished with a 15-5 record.
Wahlberg, a junior midfielder, received all-state honorable mention along with Pederson, a junior goalkeeper. The duo led Ankeny to an 11-6 mark.
Wahlberg scored a team-high 13 goals for the Hawks.
