The former Ankeny Centennial star is now an NCAA champion.
Robinson had six kills and 10 blocks to help Wisconsin to a thrilling five-set victory over Big Ten Conference rival Nebraska in the title match on Saturday at Columbus, Ohio. The Badgers (31-3) posted a 22-25, 31-29, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12 win over the Cornhuskers (26-8) to claim their first championship.
After a tough first set, Wisconsin started rolling on both offense and defense. As a team, the Badgers finished the match hitting .183 while holding Nebraska to a .141 percentage.
Robinson, a sophomore middle blocker, played a key role in the pivotal third set. She had back-to-back kills to break a 23-23 tie and close out the set.
After the Cornhuskers won the fourth set, Wisconsin jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the fifth set. Nebraska battled back and pulled within 14-12 before the Badgers won the match on their fourth championship point, getting a kill from Dana Rettke.
Anna Smrek, who was named Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament, hit a team-best .429 and also led Wisconsin with 14 kills. Jade Demps (12), Rettke (11) and Grace Loberg (10) also recorded double-digit kills.
Former Valley star Madi Kubik led the Cornhuskers with 19 kills.
