Dylan Schlee has been a valuable member of the Ankeny pitching staff the last two seasons.
Next year, he’ll be taking his talents to the Simpson baseball program.
Schlee has verbally committed to play for the Storm, beginning in the fall of 2022.
“They see me as a guy who can come and compete for innings and provide for the team on the mound right away,” Schlee said.
Schlee appeared in 10 games as a sophomore in 2020, helping the Hawks to a runner-up finish in Class 4A. The crafty righthander posted a 3-1 record with a 2.90 ERA.
As a junior, Schlee helped Ankeny to a 32-7 mark and a trip to the Class 4A semifinals. He appeared in 14 games with four starts, going 4-2 with a 2.42 ERA.
Schlee called it a tough decision.
“I had been looking at a few schools, some (junior college) and other Division III schools,” said Schlee, who has allowed just eight walks while recording 51 strikeouts during his varsity career. “What stood out about Simpson is the potential. They have lots of good things coming facility- and player-wise.”
