Ankeny Centennial senior Sean Stewart has made his college plans.
“I am blessed to announce my commitment to play baseball at Iowa Central!” Stewart tweeted on Monday. “Thank you to all my teammates and coaches who helped me along the way. Go Tritons”
Stewart said he looked at several other junior colleges around Iowa and the bordering states before making his decision.
“After my visit to Iowa Central, I knew that that was where I was wanted the most,” Stewart said. “I also developed a personal relationship with their pitching coach over the summer so after I got on campus it just felt like home!”
Stewart helped the Jaguars to a school-record 30 victories and a share of the CIML Conference title last season. He played in 33 games and started 28 times.
On the mound, Stewart compiled a 2-1 record with a 2.95 ERA. He batted .286 with five doubles and 12 RBIs while also seeing a lot of action in the outfield.
Stewart received all-conference honorable mention.
