The Ankeny girls’ wrestling team cruised to a pair of dual-meet victories on Monday at Johnston.
Ankeny rolled to a 66-15 win over Urbandale before defeating the host Dragons, 65-3. Coach Dustin Roland’s team raised its records to 4-1 in the CIML Conference and 19-2 overall.
“We sent primarily a JV squad with the exception of (Ella) Hron, (Dana) Cleveland, (Zoyie) Gatewood and (Melanie) Martinez,” said Roland.
Ankeny opened the meet against Urbandale with five consecutive falls. The team finished with seven pins and won four other matches by forfeit.
Against Johnston, Ankeny won eight matches by forfeit. The team had two falls and a technical fall.
Roland said his team is still trying to determine its postseason lineup.
“Lily Hans had an emergency appendectomy and will not be able to compete in the postseason,” he said. “So we are trying to figure out what we’ll do at 135 pounds.”
Ankeny will compete in the CIML Individual Tournament on Tuesday at Waukee Northwest.
