The Ankeny boys’ bowling team nearly earned its first victory of the season on Tuesday.
The Hawks lost to Bondurant-Farrar by a score of 2,594 to 2,583 in a non-conference meet at Great Escape. It was the second loss this season by 12 or fewer pins for Ankeny, which dropped to 0-7 overall.
Bondurant-Farrar also won the girls’ meet by a score of 2,069 to 1,863. The Hawkettes’ record fell to 1-6.
“Our girls bowled the best they have all year,” said Bondurant-Farrar coach Rick Dobesh. “My boys are (kind of up and down), but we somehow pulled out a ‘W’. Ankeny was missing some boys and girls, and it hurt their varsity squads.”
Jackson Roberts bowled a 396 series to lead the Hawks, who posted their second-highest score of the season. He rolled a 214 in his first game.
Sam Tigges bowled a 378 series, including a 202 in his opening game. Gavin Johnston had a 342 total, Jarrett Hansen bowled a 322, and Zane Shoning added a 233.
Olivia Harris led the Hawkettes with a 314 series. Kali Ogg bowled a 267, Savannah Dye had a 260, Ava Johnson rolled a 216, and Brooklyn Dietz finished with a 186.
The Ankeny teams will host a CIML Conference meet against Waukee on Thursday at B-Roll Bowling.
