Ankeny Centennial receiver Lawson Langford is staying close to home.
Langford has committed to play football at Simpson College in Indianola.
“I think ultimately I liked the new coaching staff hired at Simpson as well as the location with it being close to home,” said Langford. “I also appreciated the fact that coach (Reed) Hoskins stayed in contact with me frequently, and he also mentioned a few times that I could hopefully be getting some playing time in the near future.”
Langford helped Centennial to a 7-5 record last season. The Jaguars reached the semifinals of the Class 5A playoffs.
Langford caught 18 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. He earned all-district second-team honors in District 1.
Hoskins was hired to take over the Simpson program in December of 2022. He guided the Storm to a 3-7 record in his first season at the school.
“I looked at a couple of schools such as Morningside, Loras and William Penn,” Langford said. “It definitely wasn’t an easy decision, but with the help of my parents I narrowed it down pretty quickly and decided on Simpson!”
