Ankeny Centennial volleyball standout Delaney Miller has verbally committed to play for Wayne State College.
Miller said she looked at several different schools in a variety of conferences and different divisions.
“The recruiting process is long and complicated, and it was really tough trying to narrow down schools and try to find what was best for me,” said Miller. “Ultimately, Wayne State felt like a family and the amount of support and belief I felt from them was what helped me make my decision. I’m so excited to play at such an awesome program with some amazing people.”
Miller, a junior outside hitter, helped Centennial to a 31-7 record last season. She was named to the all-tournament team after the Jaguars reached the Class 5A semifinals for the second straight year.
Miller ranked third in Class 5A and 15th in the entire state with 437 kills. She ranked eighth in Class 5A with 49 aces.
Miller was selected to the Class 5A all-state first team by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association. She was named to the CIML Conference first team and was a repeat pick to the Class 5A West all-district team.
Miller is hoping to eventually take her volleyball talents beyond the collegiate gyms.
“Wayne also has a beach volleyball program, and I’m excited to learn more about that aspect of the game,” she said.
