The Ankeny boys’ tennis team closed out the regular season on Friday with a 10-1 loss to fifth-ranked Valley at the Prairie Ridge courts.
The Tigers finished 7-1 in the CIML Conference and improved to 10-1 overall. Ankeny’s records dropped to 3-5 and 3-7.
“Valley is a very strong team,” said Ankeny coach Ron Miller.
The Hawks’ lone win came at No. 6 singles, where Grady Schlosser posted a 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Jack Rogers.
“That was the highlight of the day,” Miller said. “Grady won in straight sets while possibly dealing with strep throat.”
Ankeny will compete in a Class 2A district tournament on Wednesday at Norwalk.
