Ankeny Centennial’s Finley Blackmore has verbally committed to play basketball at Western Colorado University, an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Blackmore said she picked the Mountaineers over a few other schools.
“I went on an unofficial visit last September and fell in love with everything about the school. It felt like home immediately,” said Blackmore. “The coaches have been nothing but supportive, the campus is beautiful, the team is so welcoming, and everything about the environment is amazing. I have my official visit in September and can’t wait to be back out there!”
Blackmore, a guard, helped Centennial to a 14-9 record as a junior. The Jaguars qualified for the Class 5A state tournament.
Blackmore averaged 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while starting all 23 games. She earned all-conference honorable mention in the CIML Conference.
The 5-foot-11 Blackmore shot 33.9 percent from 3-point range, making 21-of-62 attempts from behind the arc.
