Former Ankeny Centennial catcher Gabriel Monosmith has committed to play baseball for Wayne State College.
Monosmith helped Ellsworth Community College to a 20-34 record last season. The sophomore batted .314 with five home runs, 19 doubles and 35 RBIs.
Monosmith posted a .509 slugging percentage. He was named to the All-Region XI honorable mention list along with four of his teammates, including former Ankeny pitcher Brock Adamson.
Monosmith was also selected to the All-Academic first team by the National Junior College Athletic Association. He sports a grade point average of 4.0.
As a senior at Centennial in 2021, Monosmith batted .321 with one homer and 19 RBIs. He was a first-team all-conference pick as a junior.
Monosmith played in 23 games as a freshman at Iowa Lakes in the 2021-22 season, helping the Lakers to a 12-37 mark. He batted .225 and drove in three runs.
