Former Ankeny Centennial guard Makenna Clark helped the Emporia State (Kan.) women’s basketball team to an 87-82 victory over visiting Wayne State (Neb.) on Nov. 13.
The game was noteworthy because Clark, a sophomore, was playing against her former teammates. She started her collegiate career at Wayne State before transferring to Emporia State during the semester break earlier this year.
“It was both fun and weird at the same time!” Clark said. “I was super happy to be able to see all of my friends again, but also weird that we were competing on different teams for the first time!”
Clark played in just four games for the Wildcats before transferring. She has already matched that total at Emporia State, where she has averaged 11 minutes per game in the team’s 2-2 start.
Clark scored five points and grabbed one rebound in the win over Wayne State. She is averaging 4.5 points and has made 4-of-8 shots from 3-point range.
