Ankeny girls’ wrestling standout Elyse Engebretson has verbally committed to the University of Sioux Falls.
Engebretson announced her decision via social media on Thursday.
“So excited to announce that i will be continuing my academic and wrestling careers at the University of Sioux Falls!” Engebretson tweeted on X. “I couldn’t be more grateful for the support of my family, coaches, and teammates along the way. Can’t wait to take this next step and call USF home. Go Coo!”
Engebretson, a senior who attends North Polk, is a two-time state qualifier who has won nearly 100 matches since Ankeny started its girls’ wrestling program in 2022. Currently ranked fourth at 125 pounds in Class 2A, she has helped No. 2 Ankeny to a 14-3 dual record.
Engebretson posted a 30-7 mark as a sophomore at 115. She went 33-10 last year at 120.
