The Ankeny Centennial girls’ track team earned a fourth-place finish in the Sherwood Relays on Saturday at Iowa City High.
The Jaguars won four events and racked up 182 points while competing against seven other squads. Cedar Falls won the team title with 360 points, finishing 90 points ahead of Southeast Polk.
“We had another great day of competition,” said Centennial coach Tyler Asbe. “We had PRs in every event group, which is great to see early in the season!”
Sophomore Anna Woods led the way for Centennial. She won the 100 hurdles in 15.63 seconds and the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 3 inches.
Ava Barten captured the 400 hurdles. She posted a time of 1:06.80.
The Jaguars’ other victory came in the 4×800 relay. They were clocked in 9:34.45.
“Our 4×8 had a strong run and turned in a really nice time that was just short of the Drake Relays Blue Oval standard,” Asbe said.
Bella Hodges placed second in the 800 in 2:24.48, while Ellie Blevins took fifth in that event in 2:31.47. Anika Mohrhauser finished fourth in the 1,500, posting a time of 5:03.98.
