
The Ankeny Centennial boys’ track team emerged with a victory in the Ram Relays on Thursday at Southeast Polk.
It wasn’t a bad night for Ankeny, either.
While the Hawks won three events and placed fourth in the nine-team field with 105 points, Centennial racked up six first-place finishes and claimed the team title with 138 points. The Jaguars finished seven points ahead of runner-up Pella.
Centennial’s Noah Ross captured the 100 in 11.01 seconds. Cael Woods took the 400 hurdles in 54.21.
Sean Thomas won the 1,600 with a time of 4:38.14. Teammate Davis Johnson was third in the same event in 4:39.95.
Max Dickinson took the shot put with a throw of 54-10.25. Teammate Gavin Humphrey was third with a toss of 49-0.
The Jaguars scored a ton of points in the relay events. They won the 4×200 relay in 1:30.29 and the 4×400 relay in 3:27.44.
Centennial took second in the 4×100 relay in 43.20 and was also the runner-up in the sprint medley relay in 1:34.59.
Ankeny’s Hayden Carlson broke his own school record by winning the 110 hurdles in 14.05 seconds. Teammate Landon Pote was second in 14.78.

Those two also ran on the winning shuttle hurdle relay. The Hawks were clocked in 57.99.
Nicholas Robie won the 800 in 1:55.90, beating Pella standout Canaan Dunham by more than a second. Centennial’s Brayden Vander Wilt was third in that event in 2:00.24.
Ankeny also got a second-place finish from Ike Smith in the 3,200. He posted a time of 9:32.46.
Centennial’s Jaxon Volk was third in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet 10 inches.
