Former Ankeny softball standout Kennedy Palmer has committed to play for St. Cloud State.
Palmer, a sophomore infielder at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, has helped the Tritons to a 30-5 record in 2024-25. She is currently batting .378 with one triple, six doubles and 16 RBIs in 30 games played.
“I had a few schools that were high up on my radar; however, after my visit to St. Cloud I had a gut feeling that would be the school for me,” said Palmer. “My family knew as well–we all just had a really great feeling about the coaching staff and the mentality that these coaches had to help us win so that helped make my decision much easier.
“I loved St. Cloud’s coaching staff. They made me feel super welcome and just at home in a sense. The players as well were all great people, and I knew I would fit in,” she added.
Palmer earned all-conference honorable mention as a senior at Ankeny in 2023, when she helped the Hawkettes to a 31-8 record and a tie for seventh place in Class 5A. She batted .320 with two triples, four doubles and 20 RBIs.
Palmer, who earned all-American honors as a freshman at Iowa Central, is planning to become a nurse.
“St. Cloud has an amazing nursing program that works really well with student athletes,” she said. “Being a nursing major was always a big concern of mine because some coaches have an issue with such a tough major, but these coaches were all for it!”
