Six Ankeny Centennial softball players have earned all-state honors from the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association along with three from Ankeny Christian Academy and two from Ankeny.
Centennial coach Brett Delaney was also honored. He was named the Class 5A coach of the year after guiding the Jaguars to a 41-4 record and a runner-up finish at the state tournament.
Senior infielder Jordyn Kennedy, senior outfielders Kori Lincicum and Mady Ott, and sophomore pitcher Peyten Spiegel of Centennial were named to the Class 5A first team along with senior infielder Kensington Arringdale of Ankeny. Junior pitcher Lauren Sandholm of Centennial was selected to the second team, while senior outfielders Mylie Hatfield of Centennial and Avery Nelson of Ankeny were both third-team picks.
Senior pitcher Brette Bentz of Ankeny Christian and her sister, sophomore shortstop Breeze Bentz, were both named to the Class 1A second team. Their teammate, senior infielder Sicily Crosby, earned all-state honorable mention.
Kennedy earned all-state honors for the fifth time. She has been a first-team pick in each of the last four years after earning third-team honors as an eighth grader in 2022.
Kennedy batted .483 with 18 home runs, 11 doubles and 64 RBIs. The Minnesota recruit led Class 5A with 59 runs scored, and she ranked second in Class 5A and tied for seventh in the entire state in RBIs.
Ott, meanwhile, was a first-team pick for the third straight year after earning third-team honors as a freshman in 2023. She helped the Jaguars to the outright CIML Conference title.
Ott batted .550 with 17 homers, 14 doubles and 61 RBIs. The Drake commit led the entire state with 42 walks.
Ott led Class 5A and ranked fourth in the entire state with a .682 on-base percentage. She ranked second in Class 5A in batting average, and she tied for fifth in Class 5A and tied for eighth in the entire state in homers.
Lincicum batted .486 with 18 homers, 11 doubles and 58 RBIs. A third-team selection as a junior, the Drake recruit tied Kennedy for second in Class 5A and tied her for fifth in the entire state in home runs.
Spiegel compiled an 18-1 record with a 1.38 ERA and 130 strikeouts. She ranked third in Class 5A and 13th in the entire state in ERA, and she ranked sixth in Class 5A in wins.
Arringdale led the Hawkettes to a 12-25 record. The Mississippi State recruit batted .438 with 14 homers, nine doubles and 47 RBIs.
Sandholm earned all-state honors for the third time. She was a second-team pick as an eighth grader and a first-team selection in 2024.
Sandholm posted a 13-1 mark with a 1.97 ERA and 96 strikeouts. She will join Arringdale at Mississippi State in the fall of 2027.
Hatfield, a South Dakota State commit, batted .363 with 14 homers, 11 doubles and 43 RBIs. Nelson, an Iowa Western recruit, batted .340 with three triples, four doubles and 15 RBIs.
Breeze Bentz helped the Eagles to a 22-4 record in their third season as a varsity program. She led Class 1A with a .648 batting average, and she led Class 1A and ranked third in the entire state with a .710 on-base percentage.
Breeze led ACA with five homers and three triples despite playing in just 18 of the 26 games. She also had 24 RBIs.
Brette Bentz compiled a 13-4 mark with a 2.56 ERA and 98 strikeouts. The Simpson College recruit also batted .425 with two homers, 13 doubles and 30 RBIs.
Crosby batted .463 with two homers, 11 doubles and a team-high 32 RBIs. The Dordt University commit also went 9-0 in the circle with a 1.91 ERA and 37 strikeouts.
