The Waukee Northwest boys’ tennis team continued its dominance of the CIML Conference on Monday.
The Wolves cruised to an 11-0 triumph over visiting Ankeny Centennial for their fifth consecutive shutout against a league opponent. They are now 5-0 in the conference and 8-0 overall, while Centennial’s records fell to 1-4 and 3-5.
“They have a great team, but I’m confident we will be able to be more competitive with them in coming years if we put in the work during the offseason,” said Centennial coach Grant Menadue.
Northwest won 10 of the 11 matches in straight sets. The Wolves got a come-from-behind victory at No. 3 singles from Clay Elfers, who dropped the first set to Reece Dickinson before rallying for a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (2) win.
The Jaguars will host a conference meet against Waukee on Thursday. The Warriors are 3-1 in the league and 3-2 overall.
