Although the Turk Bowman Invitational at Veenker Golf Course was postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Sept. 29, Monday was still an important day for the Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial boys’ golf teams.
Both squads learned their Class 4A district assignments from the Iowa High School Athletic Association, which placed 56 teams at four different sites across the state. The district meets will be held on Monday, Oct. 5, beginning at 10 a.m.
Ankeny was assigned to the site hosted by Waukee Northwest. It will be played at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.
Centennial was assigned to the site hosted by LeMars. It will be held at Willow Creek Golf Course in LeMars.
Team and individual qualifiers from these meets advance to the state meet set for Oct. 12-13 at Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley.
The top three teams from each district site will qualify, as well as the top two overall individual players (plus ties) from each site’s non-qualifying teams.
Spectator access to district meets is free from the IHSAA.
