The Ankeny girls’ golf team geared up for next week’s CIML Central Conference meet by placing eighth in the Southeast Polk Invitational on Thursday. The 12-team tournament was held at Copper Creek Golf Course, where the conference meet will also be held on Wednesday.
The Hawkettes posted a team score of 393. It was their best 18-hole score of the season.
Jaci Webb carded an 84 to lead Ankeny. She placed seventh as an individual.
Valley shot a 317 to win the team title. The Tigers finished 45 strokes ahead of runner-up Southeast Polk.
Jenna Krogulski of Valley was the medalist with a 2-over-par 73, edging teammate Paige Hoffman by one stroke.
