The Ankeny girls’ tennis team entered Thursday’s dual meet against visiting Des Moines Hoover on a four-match losing streak.
The Hawkettes’ opponent was struggling even more.
Hoover entered the contest at 0-7 and had won only three individual matches all season. The Huskies’ struggles continued with an 11-0 loss.
Ankeny won 10 of the 11 matches in straight sets. The lone exception came at No. 2 doubles, where Haley Grubb and Morgan Luther won a third-set supertiebreaker, 11-9, to complete the shutout.
The Hawkettes raised their overall record to 3-7. They will host the Ankeny Invitational on Friday.
