Ankeny’s Phyona Schrader has been named to the Class 5A all-tournament team at the state volleyball tournament in Cedar Rapids.
The junior setter led the fourth-ranked Hawkettes to a sweep over No. 5 Council Bluffs Lincoln in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. She had nine kills, 25 assists, six blocks, six digs and three aces in the win.
Schrader had 30 assists and two aces as Ankeny lost to No. 1 Cedar Falls in four sets in the semifinals on Thursday. The Tigers went on to capture their second state title in three years.
Cedar Falls’ Akacia Brown was named captain of the all-tournament team. She was joined on the squad by teammates Emerson Green and Alayna Yates.
